The majority of cases (95% approx) of hypertension (high blood pressure) do not have an exact known cause. This common type is usually called essential hypertension. Some othe…r possible causes of hypertension may be reversible and include: chronic steroid use - such as Prednisone kidney diseaselung diseasepregnancy and pre-eclampsia renal artery stenosis - a narrowing of the artery to one or both kidneys pheochromocytoma - adrenal glad tumors, a cancer of the adrenal gland which secretes epinephrine and norepinephrineCushing's disease - a condition where your body makes too much steroidsaortic coarctation - a condition in which there is a narrowing of the aorta, causing high blood pressure in the arms and head, and low blood pressure in the rest of the body. Other blood vessel anomalies. obstructive sleep apneahyperthyroidismobesity, salt intake, tobacco use and alcohol have a role in HTN Other medications such as cold and sinus medicines and decongestants-especially those containing pseudoephedrine, OTC (over-the-counter) analgesics (pain meds) and various other prescription drugs, stimulants, and hormonesIllegal stimulant drugs like amphetamines and cocaine As noted above, these causes are only a small fraction (about 5%) and the overwhelming majority of HTN (hypertension) is the type called primary, essential, or idiopathic, meaning the exact cause is unknown. 31.3% or 1 in 3 adults have hypertension. 22.4% or 1 in 5 do not know they have it. There are no warning signs. HTN costs the US $76.6 billion in health care, medicines, and lost work time. Most drug stores have a blood pressure checking device available for free use. These are not as diagnostic as having your doctor check it, but they will still be useful to keep an eye on your blood pressure. If you believe you have hypertension, please see your physician and discuss your concerns with him/her.

My blood pressure was in the low normal range prior to taking lamotrigene/lamictal but it seemed to be getting higher at later Dr visits.- Now, after being on it for nearly a …year, my last blood pressure readings were 145/86 & 169/102. I am 50 years old, and have no family history of hypertension. Apparently it is a rare side effect (one my neurologist didn't think important enough to mention!)
Indirectly perhaps, but it is the heart and the system of veins and arteries which are the problem in high blood pressure; the heart is pumping extra hard and/or the arteries/…veins are restricted by blockage.
Excitotoxin effect, either the hydrocodone or the acetaminophen itself can raise diastolic greatly, especially if one feels stressed during the episode. Avoid it, find another… solution to the problem...

It can, but more typically, it does not. Usually, if there is a related headache, it is in the occipital area (at the back of the head near the neck), but it may be totally un…related. Both high blood pressure and persistent or severe headaches should be evaluated by a physician. Sudden severe headaches need urgent evaluation and usually are caused by something other than high blood pressure, but it is not impossible for that to be the cause.
Shingles are painful and pain stresses the body which in turn can increase blood pressure, can they directly increase it? Uncertain.
Keep in mind that alcohol contains calories and may contribute to unwanted weight gain - a risk factor for high blood pressure. Also, alcohol can interfere with the effectiven…ess and increase the side effects of some blood pressure medications.
