Well you should first try to start eliminating the junk food, fast food, etc. diet. As part of an American society our life is often dependent upon these foods so while I advise not to eat them when possible I understand there are times when it is necessarily so I encourage you to become familiar with the healthiest options at fast food places. While a side salad from Wendy's for a pregnant person is not near enough calories. Get the chicken sandwich as opposed to the burger and get the fruit cup on the side instead of up sizing to a large fry! Ditch any raw meats including sushi. Avoid fish with high Mercury content (swordfish, shark, tilefish, etc.). No hotdogs! Do not consume smoke seafood because several of these have been known to be contaminated with Listeria , same goes for deli-meats. Avoid eating soft cheeses, anything with raw eggs (including cookie dough!). Be sure to wash all your fruits and vegatables thoroughly. Overall it seems like a big list of no-no's but it's not too much really. And of course, no alcohol, caffeine or tobacco as well.
