Generally the Hindu society is structured around the family so the family is central to everything else they do. They generally also have a very strong work ethic as there is alot in Hindu philosophy about the benefits of work (good for the body (exercise), good for the mind (keep active), good for the soul (by doing service of some sort), be self-reliant (having money). Then most Hindu families are religious and perform certain rituals on a regular basis which bind all the members of the family together in performing these acts. There are alot of festivals also which are generally also family-orientated and involve all the immediate family as well as extended family. They may also fast on a regular basis, pray, meditate or do yoga. As they believe in work they also value material success and even pray to the goddess Laxmi (the goddess of wealth) during the Diwali festival.
