Justified or not, Truman stated that he needed to end the war and collapse Japan's means to make war never again.
Just passing through, but
Japan had become a brutal aggressor in China. We responded with crippling sanctions. They attacked us.
After 3 years and countless dead, we reached the home Islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, both costly victories. With every Japanese on Kyushu and Honshu willing to die before surrendering? I likely wouldn't be here now had the war not ended so abruptly. For purely selfish reasons, I support Truman's decision.
Most of the arguments were of the civilian deaths and the sickness those bombs brought.
It is good to boost american morale. It will end the war sooner. Japan will never have the ability to go to war never again.
Truman wanted to end the war and collapse all means so Japan couldn't make war again.
You must be more specific. What aspect of the bombing? To bomb or not to bomb? Whether it was beneficial/crucial to ending the war?
See: Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
atomic bombing
The Atomic Age is the period after the first nuclear attack was launched by the United States against Japan. The bombing changed the political and social atmosphere of the world during the Atomic Age.
1945
The atomic bombing of Japan was done to end WW2 as fast as possible with as little loss of life as possible.
The people learned a lot about the results coming from the atomic weapons. This is why no longer are they used against mankind.
I believe the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was inhumane. It caused hundreds of thousands of deaths due to automatic cumbustion, cancer, or radiation. We could have simply shown Japan our power by dropping the bomb a safe distance away in Tokyo Bay. No one would have been harmed, and 500,000 American lives would still be saved.Az waz here!
Yes. Atomic and nuclear have the same meaning.
