Greek gods have flaws just like ordinary mortals. they experience hate and envy and usually jealousy (as in the case of Hera with Zeus' many lovers). They are also given to impulsive reactions and usually did not care whether they've wreaked havoc on mankind.

Ares was the God of War, but unlike his older, wiser sister Athena, he did not always have cleverness and purpose behind his war strategy. He desired only to spread war, anger andf hate among mortals.

He was quick to anger (a horrible temper) and was often a coward, preferring to watch others fight, than take part himself.

He's puerile, cowardly and impulsive. The story goes that he got stuffed into a jar and began screaming and bawling for someone to get him out.
