What are differences between the real history of Julius Caesar and Shakespeare's version?

It is not entirely clear what the real history of Caesar was, because there is disagreement among the several historians who recorded the events reported in the play. The events portrayed there cover the period between 45 BC (Caesar's triumph after his victory at Munda) and 42 BC (The Battle of Philippi). The play of course compresses this three-year period so that the events appear to happen within a very short time. Other differences include:
- Although many people objected to Caesar's triumph after Munda according to Plutarch, this was not an official act by any tribunes.
- Although Caesar suppressed the tribunes, he did so by stripping them of office, not by executing them.
- No ancient writer records Caesar's last words as "Et tu Brute?", even if they are in Latin.
- The riots which occurred at Caesar's funeral were not the result of speeches but of building the crematory fire too high, which burned down part of the Forum.
- The Battle of Philippi was actually two battles, the first of which resulted in a draw, although Cassius erroneously committed suicide believing all to be lost, and the second three weeks later in which Brutus was defeated.
