Answer 1
One disadvantage of the English language is that people think they can speak English and yet they don't. A lot of misunderstandings happen when two non-English persons converse with each other in English, each person has a different conception of what was said.
A much more serious disadvantage for learners of English is the extent of the vocabulary. Since English draws from many different sources for vocabulary words (Latin, Greek, French, German, Sanskrit, etc.) we often have many words for the same concept. (For example, 'sky' and 'heaven' both point to that place upstairs but have different source languages.)
Answer 2
Another disadvantage of English is its reliance on rigid word order for meaning. Other languages that have meaning built into the words themselves, (German, English's mother language, is a good example) are able to be more free with word order, which can be more forgiving to learners.

It is the language of science world-wide. English speaking countries have always been at the forefront of science and technology. Air-traffic control and pilots use English wherever and whatever country they fly from. But this doesn't answer the question. The disadvantages of the mother tongue are demonstrated when it is incorrectly used more often verbally. Our language is constantly evolving but certain grammatic rules are being broken along with those changes; 'I love it' is irritatingly being changed for 'I am loving it' because of fashionable idiosyncracies. 'How's yourself?' Is a question used instead of 'How are you?' Plain English is no longer used and the disadvantage of what is now considered the mother tongue has entered our lives.
Another disadvantage of the mother tongue is an obstinacy to learn another language which undoubtedly gets you better service in France and Germany. It is polite to learn a little and to use it, even badly, whenever the oportunity arises. Speak in French in paris and they will answer in English as is the same in Germany, regardless of competency. Speak English in New York and you are treated like a moron. ''Ill get a pastrami on rye" or "gimme a pastrami on rye" is magic but almost needs as much thought as any foreign language.

A person's 'mother tongue' is the main language that they spoke when they were growing up. Usually this will be the language which they used with their mother (which explains the name): but obviously there are exceptions to this (if your mother was a Bangladeshi immigrant who married a mid-Westerner, and you grew up in Boise, then your mother tongue is probably American English - though you might still speak some Bengali with your mother). Recent language research suggests that the main language for most people is the language they speak with their childhood friends, not the language they speak at home: so 'mother tongue' may be a misnomer. It's still a useful idea though: and one that most people understand. Your mother tongue is your first language, the language you are most at ease in , the language in your dreams.
Depending on what you mean by "first language", there may be no difference. For most people it implies the language you learned first, which is your mother tongue. But for some it might mean "the language you are most fluent in or use most often" which might not be your mother tongue, if, for example, you emigrated at an early age.
Someone who is bilingual knows two languages. The "mother tongue" would be the original, first language that the person learned. Usually the same language that is spoken in the region... but not always. There is not always a mother tongue. If a child grows up bilingual... two languages are spoken by the parents, and the child learns two languages from day one... that would be a case where "mother tongue" might not apply to the idea of bilingualism.
A person's mother tongue can influence their spoken English in terms of pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. For example, someone whose mother tongue has different vowel sounds may struggle with certain English sounds. Additionally, sentence structure and word order in English can be influenced by a person's native language.
