Filter setting intakes pool water through the skimmer, sends it through the filter (then heater, if any) and back into the pool.

Backwash sends pool water through the filter in reverse and dumps the water out for cleaning purposes. In my experience if pool servicing is overdue you may need to backwash several times, running the filter setting a minute or two (without adding DE) in between each backwash. The filter is not really clean until the water runs clear.

Recirculate is a round robin water voyage from skimmer to return port bypassing the filter if the pool is piped for this feature.

Waste dumps water from the skimmer without going through the filter.

Closed prevents water from entering the filter tank and should not be used with the pump running. It is for winterizing and servicing only. Some pools are piped so that the closed setting is used when vacumming the pool (with pump running). Most pools are piped so that the closing off of water from the filter is accomplished by turning a valve on one of the water lines.

Rinse: Runs water through the filter in the normal direction and out the waste hose. This helps the sand to compact back down or the DE to settle back into the mesh before you start cycling back into the pool.

Do you know what the problem might be if a swimming pool drains when the filter is on?

Backwash valve is leaking by. More than likely it is a bad oring inside the valve. Or it was not place back into recirc mode completely. or you may have a leak on the return side of the filter. That includes all the plumbing from the filter or heater to the pool. The back wash valve may be obvious if the waste line ends close by. The back wash valve should be placed in the "filter" mode not the "recirculation" mode. K

Where is the interior cabin air filter on a 2003 Volvo XC70?

Under the passengers kick panel under the glove box. Remove the two screws holding the panle and underneath is a black panel with four screws. The filter will be one of two types. Cars with interior air quality sensor are thicker than those without. To tell which you should have look at the Recirc switch on the Climate Control Panel. The switch will have two lights in it for IAQS and one light without. The IAQS recirc switch will have Man and Aut on it also.

When the outside air is foul your caravan with air conditioner on brings that smell inside the cabin?

In any other setting than full recirculation the system mixes inside and outside air. on max cool or full recirc. all vent to the outside are or should be closed.

Where is the cabin air filter on an XC-90 Volvo?

The cabin air filter is behind the glove box but you do not remove the glove box to replace it. Remove the kick panel under the glove box by removing two screws (torx 25) and removing the panel. Under it is a black panel with 4 screws in it, again torx 25. Remove the four screws and the panel. The cabin air filter will be one of two types. One about 3/4 inch thick towards the rear or one about 1 and 1/2 inch thick towards the front. The filter is removed by pulling it straight down toward the floor. Only one filter should be installed. The thin one if for cars without IAQS or Interior Air Quality System and the thicker filter for cars with IAQS. To tell which your car should have look at the Air Conditioning Recirc switch on the Climate control panel. Cars with IAQS will have two leds on the Recirc button and cars without will have one.

What is wrong if smoke is coming out of the air conditioning unit in a 97 VW Jetta?

the button on the far right on the ac control panel is for recirc. when pushed to "on" this means the ac is drawing air from the cabin instead of from outdoors. running on recirc reduced the load on the ac because the air in the cabin is already somewhat cool and dehumidified. on humid days, if you are not running on recirc, the ac is pulling in 100% outdoor air and it cannot dehumidify the outdoor air completely and the excess humidity comes out of the vents as water vapor. when it's humid outdoors, start on outdoor air if outdoors is cooler than the cabin, then run in recirc after the cabin cools.

How do you change the fuel filter on your 2003 Honda VTX 1300?

If its like my '03 1800 VTX, then the fuel pump and filter are inside the gas tank. Take the tank off by removing the rear bolt, lifting the rear of tank, disconnecting the supply line , vent line and recirc lines. Disconnect the wire at the connector. Lift off tank. Pour out the fuel, rest it on something soft, unbolt the inner side plate and sorta wiggle the fuel pump and filter assembly out. Pain in the ass.

What if the water flows on recirculation but nothing else in an above ground pool?

The recirc cycle bypasses the tank - could be the media is severly backed up/dirty...

Is it better to pump gas when it's cool out?

A little. The colder it is the less of the volatile components will evaporate from the liquid. Some pumps have a gas recirc system and then it doesn't matter.

How do I fix a Broken Recirculation door in 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

There are three ways to go about this problem. The first is remove the dashboard and the HVAC box. This options would be used when you will be changing other items, like the heater core, evaporater, etc. The second way it to remove the dashboard only. Then remove just the recirculation door housing, leaving the HVAC box in place. This option could be used to replace the recirc door only and use the existing recirculation door housing. Or to replace both the recirc door and housing with new parts. The third option is to do a NO Dash Removal - thru the glove box fix. This would be used if you can not or do not want to remove the dashboard. This repair does Not put the recirc door back to normal working condition. It is a means to either stop the draft from coming thru the recirc door housing on the passenger side, or to relief the blocked airflow problem. How do you get rid of mold smell in my cars air conditioning unit?

a great down-and-dirty way is to get a can of lysol, turn on fan and "recirculate", which might be "max a/c" in your vehicle, find the recirc intake vent (the vent in the floor area that is drawing air in 'recirc' mode, or not blowing air when vent is on "high", usually on passenger side), turn fan about medium, and spray lysol in intake vent until lysol mist exits the vents. Then shut down HVAC and let the lysol disinfect.

Push the bottom right button (ext?/recirc)) and the bottom left button (power?) and hold them in, and you should see a C and a F and be able to pick which one.
