Harry Potter is a wizard who lives with his muggle (non-magic) aunt and uncle who treat him very unfairly compared to his cousin Dudley who is a spoiled pig. Harry's aunt and uncle didn't tell Harry he was a wizard so Hagrid (a half-giant who works at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) has to inform Harry personally. Harry meets Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger on the train to Hogwarts and they immediatly become friends. Harry meets Malfoy as he enters the castle and they become enemies. Harry is informed that his parents were murdered by the darkest wizard Lord Voldemort. Voldemort tried to kill Harry too but failed and left nothing but a scar on his forehead. On Halloween night a troll is set loose and Harry and Ron battle it to save Hermione. The three of them sneak past a three-headed dog named Fluffy, fly on a broomstick to catch a key, and play a special game of Wizard's Chess which leaves Ron injured and Hermione to tend to him. Harry enters a room and finds Professor Quirrel, a teacher at Hogwarts. Harry saves the Sorcerer's Stone but almost dies in the process. In book 2 a house elf named Dobby warns Harry not to return to school. Dobby gets Harry in trouble with the Dursley's and gets locked up in his room. Ron and his twin brothers, Fred and George, save Harry in their father's magic car. Harry accidentally discovers he is a Parselmouth, or he can speak to snakes. This rare trait is shared by his parents murderer, Voldemort. Hermione becomes Petrified by a serpent that travels through the pipes. To make things worse, Ginny (Ron's sister) was taken into the Chamber of Secrets and Harry and Ron set out to find the Chamber of Secrets and save Ginny. Harry finds Ginny and finds out that she was possessed by an enchanted diary. They escape after destroying a younger version of Voldemort. At the beginning of Harry's third year he blows up his Aunt Marge and runs away. He learns that a mass murderer, Sirius Black, is determined to kill him. Ron's pet rat Scabbers turns into a human by the name of Peter Pettigrew. Pettigrew is an evil wizard who was disguised to spy on the three friends in honor of Lord Voldemort. Sirius, who Harry thought was a murderer and Voldemort supporter, turns out to be innocent and also Harry's godfather. Harry's Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher is revealed to be a werewolf and resigns. In the fourth book, Harry attends the Quidditch World Cup where Death Eaters (followers of Voldemort) attacked the people at the game. When they return to Hogwarts, they're told that the Twiwizard Tournament will be happening that year. The tournament is a competition of the 3 wizarding schools of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbaton's. A champion is chosen from each school and despite Harry inability to compete due to his age, he is chosen as the fourth champion, which has never happened before. Their first task was to defeat a dragon and take its prized egg. Harry barely escapes with his life but completes the task nonetheless. Harry asks his crush, Cho Chang to the Yule Ball, but she was already going with Victor of Durmstrang. Harry is the last to complete the second task but receives almost full marks for his chivalry and is tied for first with Cedric Diggory. Harry and Cedric grab the Cup at the same time and are transported to a graveyard where Cedric is killed and Harry barely escapes as Voldemort was brought back to life. Harry returns to school where the Ministry of Magic convinces everyone that Harry and Dumbledore, the headmaster, are crazy and Voldemort has not returned. Harry forms a group called Dumbledore's army to teach students how to defend themselves properly. Sirius Black is killed and Harry is told a prophecy that "Neither can live while the other survives". This means that either Harry must kill Voldemort, or Voldemort will kill Harry. In Harry's sixth year, he takes private classes with Dumbledore to learn all about Voldemort and his past. Dumbledore tells Harry that he may accompany him on a dangerous quest to destroy one of Coldemort's seven horcruxes, or pieces of his soul. Harry and Dumbledore successfully return with the horcrux but Malfoy has led Death Eaters into the castle and Dumbledore is cornered by Malfoy and killed by Snape. In the final book, Harry sets out with Ron and Hermione on a vey challenging quest to destroy the rest of Voldemort's horcruxes. One night Harry and Ron get in a fight and Ron leaves. Hermione's protective enchantments prevent Ron from coming back and Hermione is devastated. Harry and Hermione travel to Godrick's Hollow, Harry's birthplace, in search of information from a renowned witch by the name of Bathilda Bagshot. She morphs into Voldemort's snake, Nagini, and attacks them. Hermione and Harry escape only to find Harry's wand is snapped in two. A few weeks pass and as Harry is keeping watch outside the tent, he ses a glowing doe and follows it to a frozen lake. He sees the sword of Gryffindor and jumps in to retrieve it. The horcrux around Harry's neck begins to choke him and Harry is saved by a mysterious person who later reveals himself as Ron! The three learn about the Deathly Hallows and whoever posseses them is the master of death. The three objects are the Elder Wand, Ressurection Stone, and Invisibility Cloak. Harry finds out that he will have to sacrifice his own life in order to truly defeat Voldemort because Harry himself is a horcrux. He meets Dumbledore after his death and is given a choice to go back and fight or move on. He chooses to fight and pretends to be dead until Neville Longbottom, Harry's friend, speaks up and causes a distraction for Harry to get away. Harry kills Voldemort once and for all and he is thankful for his second chance at life and love.
