Here are some important facts about Romania:In Romania, the first day of spring is very important and very beautiful for everybody: the boys and the men give some red and white amulets to the girls and the women. They will chose one and will wear it till March ends, when they will put it in a tree. The tradition says that if the tree will grow harmonious the girl will have a good year and if the tree will remain as it was until March the girl will have a bad year.Romanian language has a special word almost impossible to translate in other languages: the word 'dor'. It interweaves many feelings like passion, love, pain, missing somebody or something, desire, sadness, and many other.Romanians has many interesting legends and traditions. If you want to know one of them, check this out: The legend says that many years ago there was a very bad old woman called 'baba Dochia' and she had a step-daughter. It was winter and she obligated her to go on the mountain and wash some clothes. The poor girl died frozen. God punished the old woman to climb that mountain too and she took 7 waistcoats with her. The winter was ending and while she was climbing she undressed the waistcoats one by one. When the spring came, she had no waistcoat remaining and a snow showed up and baba Dochia died frozen, as a punish of her malice. The people say that between winter and spring, if there is nice weather, baba Dochia undressed one more waistcoat and if there is bad weather baba Dochia dressed one more waistcoat.
Romania was the birthplace of the legend of Dracula. It originated from a guy name Vlad Ţepeş who was a voidvode (prince) of Wallachia (one of the regions that Romania now consists of, the other is Moldavia). He was also know as Vlad III, dracula (son of the dragon or devil) after his father Vlad II dracul (dragon obviously...).
One fun fact about Romania is that Dracula's Castle is there.
