Best Answer

Natural controls include the effects on garden problems of such natural forces as weather conditions, enemies and barriers, and available water, shelter and food. For example, extreme weather conditions keep limit the proper growth patterns of host plants. In the way of another example, hills, mountains and water bodies limit the area over which a pest population can spread. in both cases, a pest population's survival is challenged.

What do you need to make an organic garden?

Black plastic solarizing sheeting, compost, drip-irrigation, fencing, hoes, mowers, native plants, natural enemies, non-synthetic controls, pruners, rakes, row covers and shovels are items that are needed to make an organic garden. The type of garden in question does not rely upon chemical, genetically modified, non-organic or synthetic inputs and resources. The tools -- such as fences, hoes, pruners, rakes, row covers, shovels -- may be the same as in non-organic gardens but botanical insecticides and natural enemies will be used in place of chemical controls and compost will replace store-bought NPK fertilizer.
