For some kinds you can tell because the poop has white things in it. Dogs usually will try to bite or lick their rear ends and in some cases they will scoot their butts along the grass or the floor. It is always wise to take a stool sample into your vets a couple of times a year, especially if your dog is out in a grassy area or in the country. Also, if you have a cat that roams around outside the worms can be tranferred to your dog. It really depends on what type of worm. A few signs for a few different types of worms are: loss of appetite, appetite without any weight gain, round like patches of hair loss (like circles), and seeing white squirmy things in its feces.

Usually a tapeworm will look like little pieces of rice on the stool, other worms can cause bleeding, and the dog will appear to be ill or weak from other worms.

Tapeworms are easy to get rid of, med is inexpensive at the vet.

It is to hard for most people to tell so my advice as a trained vetranarian is to take him/her to the vetranary clinic as they will be able to tell.

if you aren't completely sure the dog has worms, save a few bucks and check its poop.( btw i'm not against the vet, i think they're awesome, but they can be a bit expensive!) i know it sounds gross, but if you look and see small white or brownish yellowish things kinda wiglin, then for sure take him/her to the vet. dogs can die from worms. there is a vaccine against them and hookworms which can kill humans too!!
Signs that your dog has worms:

  • Visible worms or egg in your dog's poo - This is the most common way to confirm that your dog has worms. However, not all kinds of worms are visible to the naked eye.
  • Visible worms in fur, or area around dog's rear end - you may see small moving segments, which later dry out to look like grains of rice.
  • Scratching or rubbing of rear on the ground or against furniture.
  • Vomiting with visible worms.
  • Bloated looking belly.
  • Weakness, constant hunger or increased appetite, weight loss.
  • Diarrhea, particularly with blood in it.

Some of the symptoms for worms, such as stomach irritation, weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea with blood, and rubbing of rear on the ground, can be confused with other health problems. If you think your dog has worms, it's best to have a vet examine your dog.
- Not eating

- Vomit

- Not active
Signs of worm investation include weight loss, appetite loss, swollen stomach, vomiting, Diarrhea, bloody stool, dark stool and dragging their but across the carpet or ground. Diarrhea, vomiting, and dark or bloody stool can be symptoms of life threatening illness and you should contact your vet immediately
you'll see them in his poop
if they constantly scratch themselves, they either have fleas or worms. you should tell your parents, then ask the vet, and then the vet will give you a sure yes or no
Sometimes a dry coughing is a sign of heartworm. Other worms might cause a drastic loss in weight or the inability to gain weight. Your dog's stool might actually contain worms as well. Because you may not recognize the symtpoms of worms and your dog may mask pain, it's really imperative that you have a vet check him out. Worms can be a death sentence for your dog, and they're easily and painlessly treated by any vet.
Its simple, your dog will be weak and his stomach would make odd noises
