One word: sheets. Yes, bedsheets - bought on sale and hung from wires, clothesline-style. Chic magazines show fabric covered walls all the time, and this is a brilliant way to completely change the look of a room cheaply and temporarily. If you can't find enough of the same pattern in the discount bin, choose several that have a similar color in the pattern, or alternate with solid colors. All white or all cream ones will look like a gallery, a studio, or a tent. The size won't matter, because almost all flat sheets are the same length. Run a wire all around the room from eyescrews placed at the corners, at a height that will allow the sheets to just brush the floor (so they hang straight). Use office-supply binder clips, or inexpensive wooden clothespins, painting them a coordinating color if you want to. This is also a fantastic method of disguising ugly paneling or crumbly plaster until you can afford to replace them (or if you're a renter; the eyescrew holes are easy to repair). The bonus: you can hang artwork in front of the sheets from the same wire, using the same clothespins (album covers? posters? photos?) or lower down, on lengths of ribbon. Make sure you use enough eyescrews that the wire doesn't sag. Dusty walls? Take them down and wash them! The possibilities are endless - good luck! ---- also don't paint walls leave it plain white
