Faith,Hope, and LoveCatholics would that God reveals Himself primarily through the revelation He left in the Bible and in the Tradition of the Church. A third way is personal prayer, where God talks to the soul through meditation and spiritual desolations and consolations. There is also private revelation, which involves an actual supernatural experience, however, this mode of revelation is extremely rare and not to be looked for.

God reveals Himself globally through 1- Sacred Scriptures (the Bible), 2- Apostolic Tradition, and 3- the Magisterium (the Roman Catholic Church's teaching authority).

On an individual level, God reveals himself through through 1- participation in the Sacraments (especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation), 2- through prayer, both public (like the Liturgy of the Mass) and private prayer, and 3- through pious acts such as personal Scriptures study, charitable alms-giving, and in living out the Gospels to the fullest by being a true representative of Christ Jesus to everyone.

General revelation is God's self disclosure of Himself in a general way to all people at all times in all places. General revelation occurs through nature, in our experience and in our conscience, and in history. Special revelation is available to specific people at specific times in specific places. It is available now only through Scripture.

How can God be Jesus also?

God can be whatever He wants to be and this does not have to conform to any human logic. Much of what God reveals about Himself raises further questions, especially when we ask why about something. Often the answer is simply in the sovereign will of God who can and does do as He pleases, within the character of who He is. All we know is what Jesus has revealed about Himself - that He is the "I AM" of Exodus 3:14 and also that "I and the Father are one." How exactly this is is a mystery, although many have given all kinds of pictures as to how it is, but these are only limited by what He has revealed and by the finiteness of our human minds. ---- God is all powerful.

What are the differences between Islam and Christianity's claim to the revelation of God and His truth?

In Judeo-Christianity, there is an 'intimacy' revealed by God to His Creation (see Deuteronomy 1:31; Isaiah 40:11; Jeremiah 3:14 to list a few). We are even told to call Him 'Father' (see Matthew 6:8, etals). This is not the case in Islam. The Judeo-Christian God is presented as a God of Love - as the initiator and for all mankind, even sinners. The Quran has numerous places that say God does not love the sinner (see Deuteronomy 7:7; and John 3:16 versus Sura 2:190 and Sura 3:57 as examples). For Islam, God is unknowable (see Sura 40 as example) while in Judeo-Christianity, God reveals Himself in many ways to His Creation (see Jeremiah 9:23-24 and John 17:3 as examples). These are just some of the differences between the religions.
