I'll give you an example: I'm feeling sad because my soccer team lost the game. We lost because I kicked the ball somewhere else. Therefore, the other team won.
The six perspectives are:
• Biological: Did I lose the game because I couldn't remember?
• Behavioral: Did I lose the game because I was taught not to become a loser from my friends?
• Cognitive: Did I lose the game because I was thinking about something else? Was I being distracted?
• Social: Did my friends pressure me to win? Did my family want me to win?
• Psychoanalytic: Maybe I was dreaming about winning? Or maybe I got nervous and kicked the ball somewhere else?
• Evolutionary: Was winning a trait of evolution? Are we taught to win because it's a survival trait?
The are many approaches to Psychology.
A few of the most commonly discussed are:
Behavioral psychology: in this type, the focus is on the way that humans can be conditioned to elicit certain responses
Humanistic psychology: client centered therapy arose from this type. This is also a growth place of positive psychology. Check out Maslow and Rogers.
Freudian psychology: this is centered on Freud's theories. There are too many to list, but look up Freud, and you'll find a lot. He talked a lot about analysis of dreams, repressed memories, and suppressed childhood problems.

Modern approaches in psychology focus on understanding mental processes and behavior through empirical research and scientific methods. Key approaches include cognitive psychology, which studies mental processes like perception and memory; behavioral psychology, which focuses on observable behavior and how it is learned; and humanistic psychology, which emphasizes personal growth and self-actualization. Additionally, biopsychology examines the neural and physiological correlates of behavior, while social psychology explores how individuals are influenced by social factors.
There are several different approaches in psychology, including biological, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural perspectives. Each approach focuses on different aspects of human behavior and mental processes, providing unique insights and approaches to understanding and treating psychological issues.
One approach in psychology is cognitive psychology, which focuses on how people acquire, process, and store information. Research in this area examines topics such as memory, problem-solving, and decision-making. Cognitive psychology has led to a better understanding of mental processes and how they influence behavior.
Contemporary approaches to psychology include cognitive psychology, which focuses on mental processes like memory and problem-solving; behavioral psychology, which examines how behaviors are learned and influenced by the environment; and humanistic psychology, which emphasizes personal growth and self-actualization. Other modern approaches include evolutionary psychology, which studies how behaviors have evolved over time, and positive psychology, which examines factors that contribute to well-being and fulfillment.
Rod Plotnik advises that knowing the six approaches of psychology can help us understand human behavior more comprehensively. He suggests that by recognizing the diversity of perspectives within psychology, we can gain a more holistic view of why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. Finally, he recommends applying this knowledge to our everyday interactions and relationships to improve our understanding of ourselves and others.

There are various different approaches in contemporary psychology. An approach is a perspective (i.e. view) that involves certain assumptions (i.e. beliefs) about human behavior: the way they function, which aspects of them are worthy of study and what research methods are appropriate for undertaking this study.
