Suffering is real. Suffering has a cause=selfish desire. Having a cause, it can be ended by ending selfish desire. Selfish desire can be ended by following the Path of the Middle Way (the Eightfold Path): right thoughts, speech, deeds/actions, work (employment/activities or job), study, wisdom and meditation. These are the Five Precepts: do not kill, steal, lie, abuse sex or take any intoxicants.
