∙ 15y agoNobody said you have to know anything about networks...!! However if its for a course, then you will have to learn the curriculum. If its for yourself then you just stop whenever you get bored. If you just want to learn enough to get your own network up and going, which I am going to assume is a small home network, then I'd advise you to start learning about switches and wireless routers. Figure out which one is right for you. Hopefully by this stage you will have a far better idea on what your doing. If your looking for a good book on networks then Id highly recommend 'Computer Networks' by Andrew Tanenbaum.
