What are the customs of the people of The Rockies?

They may not exist at all. As a people they are widely and even wildly diverse with much of their origin coming directly from various European communities with a long history in the mining industry. They include no cohesive body of language or religious persuasion. The vast majority were from the laboring class and many were ex-soldiers from many nations. A very small number came from the early trappers and mountain men including both French and Spanish.

The women continue to be a source of wild speculation, but they certainly included Native Americans, escaped slaves, jilted maidens, prostitutes, petty criminals and other exiles from civilized society.

Add to that mix a very small number of wealthy English third and fourth sons who were seeking wealth and were the entrepreneurs of the west.

Their collective customs and traditions may be limited to elbow room, Rodeo, fear and respect for the American Indians, a love of the mustang and the bison, and the love of justice, open spaces, nature, barbecue, a good steak and ample firewater.
