What are the differences between the badges of a Premier Answerer and an Alternates Specialist?

A Premier Answerer are dedicated to reasearching and answering questions. Premier Answerers are often recomended by Site Supervisors for doing the before mentioned tasks.
An Alternates Specialist is a Supervisor that is responsible for splitting and merging alternates of questions to increase the functionality of WikiAnswers.

What are the differences between a Premier Answerer and an Alternates Specialist?
A Premier Answerer is recognised for their outstanding answers (only Non-Supervisors may receive this badge), whilst an Alternates Specialist is a member of the Vandal Patrol (Supervisors only) that deals with questions with large amounts of alternates, splitting, rewording and recategorizing the alternates.
Can a Premier Answerer on WikiAnswers become a Supervisor?
Yes, you can, although you will not remain a Premier Answerer. You will have their Premier Answerer badge removed and instead receive the Supervisor badge on your profile.
Can you be in The Initiates Program if you are a Premier Answerer?
Yes you can join The Initiates Program if you are a Premier Answerer.However, if you graduate from the program and accept an invitation to become a supervisor then you will lose your Premier Answerer status.Contributors can only be a Premier Answerer or a supervisor and not both.

Can you become a Supervisor even though you're not a Premier Answerer?

If you are a Talent Scout on WikiAnswers and you think you are a good contributor can you recommend yourself as a Premier Answerer?
I would think that you could but for it to really count you should have someone else like a Talent Scout or Supervisor recommended you for Premier Answerer. Because it would be more appropriate and right to have someone else recommend you. And also you probably would be more likely to get the premier answerer designation.
