There are three types of Christians that are Christians and four if you count the hypocrites among them. The three are those who believe in Jesus Christ and have not submitted themselves to His will; those who have repented of their sin and believe on Him acknowledging their sin as sin and praying to overcome sin, and those who are like the second but have received also the baptism of the Holy Ghost which thing the Lord Himself does. ( The Holy Ghost is the Gift of God; The same Spirit the raised Christ from the dead and all Christian should seek. As it is written...MATTHEW 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. ; MATTHEW 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.; LUKE 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.; ROMANS 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ; ROMANS 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. ANSWERThe different types of professed Christians and true Christian is told by Jesus in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8.

Addendum:

There are multiple variety of differing belief systems that claim to be Christian (literally "footstep follower of Christ"). Each group can be seen to differentiate on either or both some minor and some major points (for instance, the trinity, Jesus being God in the flesh, Jesus being Michael the Archangel, the one hundred forty four thousand's role in heaven, who Jesus appeared to first, etcetera). According to the "The World Christian Database" there exists over 9,000 Christian denominations. Sadly, although I am well versed in scripture and numerous Biblical texts, I cannot claim to have kept up with the thousands of different types (denomination) of Christian.
