What are the good and bad effects of the modern technology?

With in the last 50 years, the entire world has seen a boom in technology. With this technology the storage, processing, and sharing of information has never been easier. It has enabled the whole of mankind to effectivley socialize more through such applications like facebook or twitter. It has also enabled a vast and seemingly infinite amount of information to be accessed almost effortlessly. But the problems that accompany these problems is that most data now days is kept digitally and then is forgotten or lost forever. Without care and consideration this could mean the loss of medical, financial, and even identity information. Another predicament that we find ourselves in is that technology has blossomed so much that the learning curve for understanding and improving on these existing technologies is gowing ever steeper. One day we might be in the situation where we can't learn fast enough to understand or even improve what has already been built. There is also the matter of anti-socialization. I know i already said that tech. has enabled the spread of communication and socialization, but that is through computer terminals. Recent studies have shown that people who highly engage in online socializing networks (e.g. facebook/twitter) show an inability to understand bodylanguage, facial expressions, or even a simple conversations. I know that this is probably for an essay of some sort so i hope this got you pointed in the right direction.
