The series started with episodes which were individual stories. Many of these pre 1970 were lost or destroyed by the BBC when they believed that they needed to make space in the archives . Later in its creation through the 70's the BBC cut its funding and stated to develop a series of stories which as we have today culminate in an over all story.
This list is up to June 2011 and includes the forecast September 2011 Episode already shot at the BBC studies and forms part of a winter late Autumn transmission set where there will be 2 sets of stories per year. This was undertaken to sell to the States where Dr Who is very successful in its pilot programmes
