This is actually a good (if not complicated) question. Much of the rhetoric around the health-care law has in fact been exaggerated and mythic, put forward by opponents of the law. But in this case, there is an actual, not an exaggerated, controversy about a tax on medical devices and certain medical supplies. A number of lobbyists and special interest groups, as well as hospital administrators, are understandably upset that this tax is part of the new health care law.
It should be noted that any new law will often need to be tweaked or modified, and this particular provision is on the radar of many in the administration, including some members of congress who have a number of hospitals in their district. I don't know when it will be addressed, but I will be very surprised if it doesn't get fixed in the near future. I would advise that you call your representative and reiterate your eagerness to see it addressed sooner rather than later.
