Sebastian was a well educated and respected officer of the Roman army and a personal favorite of the emperor. He declined to follow an order to persecute Chrisitans (he himself was a Christian) and refused to renounce his religion. For that he was martyred - twice!

Every Saint deals with strength. Fortitude is one of the Cardinal Virtues. Every human being must exhibit this (and other things) in order to achieve a state of Holiness. In order to become a Saint, you must have fortitude (strength). The cardinal virtues are: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance.
St. Cecilia's virtues included chastity and piety. She later became very active in the church and was known for her "marriage to Christ."
