What types of fossils does not form in sediments?

Well there are 3 types of fossils: Petrified Fossils, Molds and Cast, and Preserved Remains. Petrified Fossils are the organisms buried in the layers of sediment. Molds and Casts are the organisms, like shells, buried by sediments, in which they gradually dissolve. Preserved Remains are the organisms preserved in other substances. For example, entire organisms, such as huge elephant-like mammoths that lived thousands of years ago, have been preserved in ice.
