You do not need " a saltwater pump" . Most pumps on the market will do to pump the amount of water you need to be pumped. You have to hydraulically match the pump the the amount of water you have and the type and capacity of each piece of equipment you have. The filter, the heater, the pump all have manufacturer's specs as to what work they can handle. I prefer a certain brand of a piece of equipment - this type of pump, that type or brand of filter or heater etc. k

Will the spray from your saltwater pool cleaner harm your plants?

I don't think there is such a thing as a "SALTWATER POOL CLEANER". You may have a pool cleaning device that works in either a salt pool or a standard no salt pool.

Can you use pool salt in your pool with out the salt water system?

Sure, you CAN, but why would you want to? The purpose of the salt in a saltwater system equipped pool is to provide the chlorine the saltwater system generates. It would be the same as having a saltwater system pool that the saltwater system went bad and you just installed an inline chlorinator in the plumbing instead of replacing the saltwater chlorine generator system so you could add chlorine with the tablets.

If you want a saltwater pool can you just put salt in and let the pool pump do the rest or do you need to have a saltwater system?

You need a saltwater system. The unit converts the salt (NaCl) to chlorine gas (Cl) within a chamber using electricity then (almost) immediately converts it back again to salt. The cycle is continuous, therefore your pool water is 'sanatized' with chlorine whenever the pool pump is running - just a little bit at a time. Apparently the technology was first adopted in Australia 30+ years ago. I just purchased a unit in Canada for CDN$1750 installed for a 18x36 inground pool.

Yes, it's easy! Just add a saltwater chlorinator between the filter pump and the pool intlet. Then add pool salt. Follow the directions in the manual and you will be swimming in your saltwater pool in 24 hours.

What chemicals should I put into a new above-ground pool if I do NOT want to use chlorine but saltwater instead and where would I buy this?

you have to buy a saltwater generator from a pool store or intex, then I use water softening salt i got mine at home depot it takes about 4 days for it to dissolve with your pump running constantly then turn your generator on that's all you have to do i love my saltwater pool

You can but is not recommended. Rock salt takes longer to dissolve and it can stain your pool because it contains impurities.
