It depends on how much you eat, and what you eat. Some people go every day, some go every other day, or every two or three days. You should definitely be going at least twice a week on average.
What's most important is not how often you defecate (poop), but how easy or difficult it is when you do defecate. If you have to push very hard and strain yourself, it's a problem. It's called being "constipated."
Once you sit down on the toilet, you should be able to defecate within 5 minutes. If you can't, then it is likely that you are not eating enough fiber. The roughness of fiber provides traction, making it easier to push the feces out of you. Fiber also makes the feces softer.
If you are consistently constipated, then it is likely that you are not getting enough fiber in your diet. See the Related Question below for a list of high-fiber foods.
If you wish, you can also take a fiber supplement, like Metamucil or Benefiber.
Every three days is not too seldomly but can be quite uncomforting.
Drink more pure water and less soda, coffee and black tea.
Eat more fruits and raw vegetables, oatmeal, shredded flax seed and the likes (adds more fibre to your diet).
Eat fermented dairy products if your body doesn't overreact to it. All natural yogurt would be perfect, preferably self-made. If you can't eat dairy products, make yourself yogurt from soy milk. If you don't know how, contact me via Facebook, just look up my name.
Move more regularly (as in sports) - 30 minutes a day would be optimal.

There could be many reasons but you need to see a doctor quickly. You are supposed to have a bowel movement every 1-3 days to be healthy!

if you haven't pooped in two weeks go to the doctor and he will do tests and tell you what is wrong and how to fix it
the child is dehydrated The dark color in a bowel movement (called 'Bile') normally comes from the Gall Bladder, which is connected to the Liver. When something stops the flow of the Bile, the bowel movement is light to white in color.See a doctor; the child may have Gallstones, or something wrong with their liver.
If your bowel movement is pink, it means that you have blood in the stool. You should see a physician to determine the cause of the blood.

old blood in the semen, usually due to straining while having a bowel movement or injury to testcles. If this continues, see a doctor, but usually clears up on it's own.
Yes, it does sound as though you have problems, and the best way to start sorting them is with a visit to a doctor.
