You might start with a check of the simple things, such as radiator cap. Next make sure you're not getting coolant into the oil. (i.e. head gasket leakage) And as mentioned, make sure the radiator is clear of debris, and that the fans are working. Also, a low octane gasoline or "old" gas would cause this problem, as well as an engine that is out of ignition timing. If the car is an automatic, and the transmission is not functioning properly or requires a fluid change can also cause a hot temp.
AnswerCheck that both fans are running and that the radiator fins and A/C Condenser fins are clean and clear.Change your thermostat to a 160 .This will help alot & is cheap.
