The increase in your body due to the baby's growth puts increased pressure on the lower spine and abdominal area. It'll only get worse as the baby grows, but lying down on your side will help ease the pressure on both areas. Put a cushion between your knees and behind your back also - the cushion between the knees should be large enough to keep your legs parallel to each other, which will reduce stress on the hips and lower spine. Stay off your back unless you have a cushion under your legs that raises them enough to get pressure of the lumbar area. It should be big enough to keep the flat of your back against the bed. You'll know when it's enough.
The cushion behind you helps to keep you from rolling over on your back and increasing the pressure on the spine.

∙ 13y agoYou get Back pain caused by stress. if you are going through tough times in your family , at work or school ,etc..... It is likely being centered there and is putting stress in that certain area. believe it or not it can also be caused by sensitivities to certain foods. it can come with symptoms such as vomiting. it can also be because your back is misaligned.
New answer: Muscle stress causes back pain and it can be one-sided. Muscles get stressed from over-use or under-use or from poor habits. For example, a poor habit might be always leaning to the same side with the same foot curled under your body.
You might also have scoliosis or curvature of the spine. But it usually has a cause and the cause is most often treatable. Sometimes it is caused by bones that aren't perfectly shaped or a short leg or a pelvic bone that is smaller on one side than the other. It can also be caused by poor habits, like leaning to the same side when you watch tv.
The muscles in the front of your body can also 'refer' pain to the back of your body.
