if it doesnt turn over and if your lights are dim the lights all dim out all the way and nothing happens, or you hear a clicking noise when you turn the key, charge or replace your battery
then check your fuses, relays, and power leads to your starter.
if it still just wont turn over your starter is probably bad.
if it turns over and doesnt start there are many reasons that it might not start.
your computer could have lost its memory, to reflash it it costs about 75 bucks at a dealer. this is a common thing if your battery went completely dead or you unhooked it for any period of time.
Your O2 sensors could be bad. on most sebrings there are two, one on the tailpipe and one on the intake manifold.
your fuel system could be clogged, malfunctioning or worse, leaking. this could include the fuel pump, the metal rubber hoses leading to your fuel rail, the fuel rail, or the injectors, but most the time the car will sputter from lack of fuel when this is the case.
your timing could have jumped.... if it runs good its a good thing to fix, if it runs like crap its a goner because this isn't a cheap thing to fix.
your distributor cap/coil could have gone bad on the 2.5L engine or your direct coils on the 2.4 l could be malfunctioning. (on my 2.5L sebring conv it just so happens that the coil is part of the cap so it costs even more money to replace this, something in the range of 350-500 bucks). the repair decision on this is the same as above, but if you have to replace these you may as well do a full tune up,(plugs wires, cap/coil). and as stated in some of the other tips, replacing the back three spark plugs is difficult; better left to a professional; if you don't know your way around an intake manifold.
that's about the only reasons i can think of that the car wouldn't start that are normal things that happen. i have a sebring w/170k miles on it and these are the only things that have ever prevented my car from starting.
There are many places where new tires can be purchased for a Chrysler Sebring Convertible. Sears, Pepboys, Goodyear and Firestone companies all sell Chrysler Sebring Convertible tires.
Check the coolant level. Or, thermostat could be stuck in open position.
A likely cause is a failing instrument cluster.
On my 97 convertible there are rubber plugs in the front rear fenderwells down at the bottom. I found this out the hard way because the rear floor was wet when the water could not escape. How stupid is it that plugs are in there in the first place.
Insufficient stamina.
There are a few things that can cause a low idle in a 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The fuel pump may not be working right, the fuel injectors could be old, or the car could be low on oil.
Chrysler Sebring is a great brand of car. Wiring diagrams are great use for mechanics. They could be found at local service dealers or auto parts stores.
this could be the cause of a bad toque converter
I have a 1996 Chrysler sebring convertible and I have had a new battery go bad three times in two years. Chrysler dealers across America could not solve the problem. I wound up stranded in a little town called Olds, Alberta, about 60 miles north of Calgary, Alberta, on a weekend in a hail storm and my car would not start. The nearest Chrysler Dealer in town fixed the problem in a couple hours. The problem was a faulty fuel-pump sending unit which caused a slow electrical power leak from the battery.
Have the tires Balanced. Then check alignment. If still shakes is it when your press the brakes? If so check the rotors and abs system. Or if it could also be the over drive if it is when shifting gears. Try running it with the over drive off.
You could use the non-convertable seats in a convertable Sebring, but there would be a huge safety issue as you would not have seatbelts. The seatbelts are built in to the Sebring convertable seats. The bolt down assemblies for both however are identicle.
That will depend on the problem. Could be $100-$1000.
