Exodus 13:21, 22 - And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people. [NKJV]

The Israelites were not lead by god with any special thing to guide them to the red sea. But god guided them in the wilderness , by a pillar of cloud in the day and a pillar of light in the night.

Christian answer:

He appeared as a great cloud during the day, and at night he appeared as fire, leading them to the promised land. He fed them with unleavened bread, the same type of bread used at Eucharist.

Jewish answer:

The above answer is not entirely accurate. The pillar of cloud and of fire was not synonymous with the presence of God. Rather, it was a miraculous physical phenomenon which demonstrated that God's presence (which is not physical) was with them.

When God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites

What prompted the Israelites to go through the Red Sea?

The Israelites were prompted to go through the Red Sea because their leader, Moses, had a directive from God that they should escape through the sea. God wanted them to re-start their lives in a new land. The Egyptians were following them. Had they stayed on the west shore of the Red Sea, the Egyptians would have killed them. Moses held up his staff, and God parted the waters of the Red Sea. When the Egyptians followed them, God let the walls of waters go and the Egyptian soldiers drowned.

What about the red sea was important to the israelites?

The Israelites miraculously crossed the dry seabed of the Sea of Reeds (Exodus 14), which is not necessarily the same as the Red Sea.

Who separated the red sea god or Moses?

Moses The Crossing of the Red Sea forms an episode in the biblical narrative of The Exodus. It tells of the escape of the Israelites, led by Moses, from the pursuing Egyptians, as recounted in the Book of Exodus. Moses holds out his staff and God parts the waters of the Yam Suph. The Israelites walk through on the dry ground and cross the sea, followed by the Egyptian army. Once the Israelites have safely crossed Moses lifts his arms again, the sea closes, and the Egyptians are drowned.

Who parted the red sea and was given the 10 commands?

Moses, a prince of Egypt who was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

What was the name of the sea that the Israelites escaped through?

The Red Sea .

What happened at Yam Suph?

Yam Suph is generally believed to refer to the Red Sea. In the Bible, the Israelites escaped from slavery in Egypt by crossing the Red Sea on dry land, as the waters miraculously parted to allow them safe passage. This event is often referred to as the parting of the Red Sea.

What is God parted this to save the Israelites?

The Sea of Suf.

What happend at the red sea?

moses parted the red sea for the Israelites to get away from the Egyptian army

How many times did God part the waters?

According to the Bible, God parted the waters two times. The first instance was when God parted the Red Sea to allow the Israelites to escape from the pursuing Egyptian army. The second time was when God parted the Jordan River for the Israelites to cross into the promised land.

What did God part to let the Israelites pass unharmed?

The Sea of Suf (Exodus ch.14). Some translate this as the Red Sea, and some prefer to translate it as the Sea of Reeds (the literal meaning).

Where did they go after crossing the red sea?

After crossing the Red Sea, the Israelites journeyed through the wilderness towards Mount Sinai, where they received the Ten Commandments from God. They eventually reached the Promised Land after years of wandering, under the leadership of Moses and later Joshua.
