The Korean War was part of the Cold War do to its conflict over what type of government the country should have. This was very impotent to both the USA and the USSR because both wanted to spread the type of government they have to countries that were beginning to take shape like Vietnam.

It plays a important role as it proved to be a "hot" war rather than "cold" war,

the context in Korea was fairly similar to the war in Vietnam, along ideological lines (democracy vs communism) .

It provided democracies and communist countries with an opportunity to indirectly fight one another.

The Korean War was a sort of dress rehearsal, for a ground war between Russia and the United States, and China and the United States. It was also a great disappointment to many people, particularly in the US, who believed World War II would be the war to end all wars.
