From 1933 to 1945, Nazi Germany operated more than a thousand concentration camps on its own territory and in parts of German-occupied Europe.
Concentration camps were extermination camps to exterminate all those of non-Aryan race.
Hitler made up the Aryan race but they were supposedly the most "pure of blood" than anyone else on the world. The ideal Aryan was pale and had blond hair and blue eyes.
The concentration camps had gas-chambers, people being shot(for no apparent reason), people digging there own grave(a mass grave in which thousands of people shared) and being shot into it, or you could be transported in a cattle car crammed with no space to spare to one of the other concentration camps.
The extermination camps were quite small. They didn't keep most prisoners for long, either. Basically, they were killing factories. Newly arrived victims left the trains and were told that they were going to be resettled, but would have to be deloused first in a shower. They were ordered to strip for delousing and were then whisked into the gas chambers; the doors were shut firmly and then the gassing commenced. The victims were dead within minutes and their corpses were buried or cremated (burned to ash).
A few stong new arrivals were sometimes picked out to help with the extermination process, for example by digging mass graves, while others had to help the Nazis sort the victims' belonging.
The following camps operated in this way and were not used for any other purpose:
Any number of things took place in concentration camps. See the answer for the following question, "What were the names and locations of Nazi concentration camps and extermination or death camps?" here on answer.com. it does a good job of answering this question, and explaining, "concentration camp" doesn't always refer to the death camps you are probably thinking of.
You go to constipation camps if you have problems releasing waste out of your bowels.

Life was miserable, and the work was hard.
Not necessarily ... In all ordinary concentration camps the prisoners had to work. However, there were also work camps for foreigners moved to Germany and forced to work there. For example, large numbers of Poles and Ukrainians were transported to Germany and had to work for the German government and/or German corporations. They lived in camps, where conditions were generally pretty grim.
