∙ 15y agoThe interesting fact is that she is considered in France as a war hero, due to her activity in World War I, which was organising mobile X-ray stations, which, used in field, helped to save thousands of lives.

∙ 12y agoMaria Curie, one of the most famous scientists in the world, dedicated her life to physics and chemistry. Maria Curie was born on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland.
Maria discovered radioactivity, she was the first woman to win the Nobel prize for physics. She was the first female lecturer and professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris. She received another Nobel award, this time for chemistry, becoming the first person ever to win 2 Nobel awards. She also received 15 gold medals, 19 degrees, and many other honors.
Maria Sklodowska was married to Pierre Curie, on July 25, 1895. On April 19, 1906, Pierre died when he was run over by a horse drawn cart. On May 13, 1906 Marie was awarded her husband's professorship at the Sorbonne University. Her name then became Marie.
Maria Curie discovered radium and also died from it. On July 4, 1934 Marie died from pernicious anaemia, caused by overexposure from radium.
In 1995 Maria's ashes were enshrined in the Pantheon. The Pantheon is France's memorial to its nation's heroes. She was the first woman to receive this honor.
