There are actually very few similarities between the komodo dragon and the fictitious creature known as a dragon. They both breathe using lungs, but the fictitious dragon breathes out fire whereas the komodo dragon breathes ordinary air. The komodo dragon has scaly skin, whereas a dragon is generally believed to have scales.

Komodo Dragons are monitor lizards. Iguanas are 'plant-eaters' and Komodos are carnivores.
Komodo Dragons kill by toxification. Iguanas don't kill at all.

∙ 13y agoNo, no, not even close! Iguanas are mostly herbivores and Komodo Dragons are carnivores. Iguanas have spikes running down their backs and Komodo Dragons have smooth, scaly backs. Generally, Iguanas have shorter snouts than most lizards, and the Komodo Dragons are the most powerful lizards.
