What do you do with the helix fossil in Pokemon LeafGreen?

After you defeat the Fuchsia Gym Leader, Koga, and obtain the HM for Surf from the Fuchsia Safari Zone, return to Pallet Town and Surf due south to reach Cinnabar Island. Go to the building located furthest to the southwest, head to the room furthest to the east in the building, and speak to the scientist within. Give him the fossil and then leave the room; the next time you talk to him, he'll give you a Level 5 Omanyte from the Helix Fossil.

The same goes for the other two fossils in the game; the Dome Fossil will give you a Level 5 Kabuto, and the Old Amber will give you a Level 5 Aerodactyl. You can obtain Old Amber by going through the backdoor of the Pewter City Museum and talking to one of the people within, once you can use Cut.

Bring it to the museum and talk to the guy inside who says he is researching Pokemon fossils.Give him the fossil then go out of the museum.When you go back in he will have restored the fossil to a Pokemon.You need to have a free slot in your party too.

You have to go to Cinnibar Island, and there is a lab which you have to enter. A scientist will borrow the fossil. Then exit the building and come back in. He will give you an Omanyte.
