How reading can improve your knowledge?

if we read a how-to guide then you learn somethign from it. if we read a math textbook and then you learn how to do mathematics.

when you read a book and use some of those ideas and change them a bit, make it YOUR OWN. use that and put it into your writing , it makes it more YOU , CREATIVE - that's what my teacher alwayz says.

This could go on forever but, smarts, vocabulary, sense of humor, understanding, morals, principles, scruples, imagination, and heart. I'm 11 and I read about 7 books a week, so, I think everyone should read.

Absolute self-indulgence. It's much like watching a movie or something with the headphones on...it tunes out the rest of the world with escapism. Unlike a movie, what's happening in the story and what you see in your head is completely up to you. A movie gives you the story as the director wants you to see it. You don't have a choice in the matter. Reading gives you almost complete control over who plays what character in your mind. The only parameter is that the author tells the story. The rest is up to you.

Here are some things you can learn by reading:

• factual information - the "who/what/when/where/how?" questions that need to be answered
• opinions - you can find out what other people think about things
• theories - you can find out what the latest scientific thinking is
• vocabulary - the more you read, the better yours will be
• intelligence- the more you read, the smarter you'll be

And of course - reading is entertaining!
