The number of students who are invited to apply varies each year depending on the number of recommendations we receive. We select 40 local students for our local delegation from surrounding schools; therefore, interest and entrance can be very competitive. Some delegations are full within a few days of the information meeting. Delegates will be placed in their local delegation based on their application date. Students with the earliest application dates are more likely to be placed in the local delegation. All students must submit an application, obtain three letters of recommendation, and participate in an interview with the local teacher-leaders. Once accepted, students attend between 4 to 6 orientation meetings to prepare for travel. If you have questions about our application process you can reach us directly at 800-669-7882, we are here to answer any questions you may have.

NOTE: This program is not competitive. They do not turn away ANY student that can afford it. They are a business trying to make money.

How do you get to be a student ambassador?

Student Ambassadors represent their school, community, state and country while traveling abroad. They learn about other cultures, experience unique activities and meet local citizens. Student Ambassadors come in all shapes and sizes, but they share many common traits: a curious and adventurous spirit, an open mind and heart, the desire to learn about other cultures and people, and the belief in President Eisenhower's vision that each person can make a difference to achieve "peace through understanding." Many students are nominated by teachers, former Student Ambassadors or their parents. You can also contact us at our National Program office and we can speak with you on how to become a Student Ambassador. We can be reached Monday - Friday / 6am - 5pm PST 800-669-7882.
