It is latin it stands for Jesus king of the Jews. I.N.R.I. has numeric meaning as well. I-9 , N-14, R-18, I-9. corresponding alphabet I(9)xN(14)=126 and R(18) x I(9)=162 reversed 81x9=729 or 927 , 162 or 261 [927-261]=666 ... 9x14 or 9x5 = 45 and 126 reversed is 621. 621 + 45 = 666. so there is additional meaning to I.N.R.I. that is unexplainable.

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.

INRI stands for the inscription on the cross on which Jesus died, it is the initials from Pilate's epithet for Jesus: Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaorum

from The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 1994

I.N.R.I. Symbolic rendering of the initials of the Latin words placed on the Cross as Jesus died, Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaorum, "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews." The inscription was place don the Cross by Pilate's orders in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. The initials have been used only since the thirteenth century. Before that the words were fully written or omitted.
