"NCC" is the registry prefix used on Federation starships in Star Trek. For example, the Enterprise is NCC-1701. Matt Jefferies, the original designer of the Enterprise, based it off the "NC" prefix used on American civilian aircraft and added an extra "C" because he thought it looked better. It's never been established what "NCC" stands for within the Star Trekuniverse.
