Plot is a complex term that involves a conflict at its core. Something that disturbs the harmony of the characters or the universe or something. It is this conflict that is resolved. And as the conflict gets resolved so to does the plot.

For example the protagonist is in danger of being stabbed to death by the antagonist. This is a conflict. This conflict plus all the action that takes place because of that conflict is the plot. When the protagonist convinces the antagonist that he truly loves her and everything that she heard about him to the contrary were lies and hyperbola and she drops the knife and falls lovingly into his arms - this is the resolution to the conflict and thereby the end of the plot as anything that happens after that is only gratuitous sensuality.
