Getting intoxicated can seem to be be fun because alcohol in moderation when it gets into our bodies can have beneficial effects on making you feel happy, reducing or shedding your inhibitions, and easing work-related stress that may be limiting your potential to relax, make friends, socialize and get on well with others. It can (for many) change you from feeling miserable to feeling cheerful. It can also in some cases improve artistic performance, such as in some extremely talented musicians.

BUT sadly, it is also a proven fact that in any society where alcohol is freely used is afflicted by the negative consequences of acute alcoholic intoxication, alcohol dependence, alcoholic treated health disorders such as liver disorders, hypertension, Heart disease, neuropathy and other kinds of mental health illnesses such as dementia.

Sadly, too, alcohol's effect when it gets inside our human bodies is also an important factor in causing humans to make mistakes that may lead to terrible road accidents that can injure or kill others, as well as domestic violence, child abuse, breakdown of relationships and marriages, hooliganism, physical assault, and various other types of crime that so often cause misery and unhappiness to innocent, decent people.

The effect of alcohol once inside you is most basically due to it acting on your CNS (central nervous system - your brain and your spinal cord) as a depressant. Thereby it decreases CNS activity and thus initially reduces your anxiety, tension and inhibitions. Consumed in moderate amounts (as stated above), it gives you this pleasant feeling of relaxation and confidence that may enable you to socialize more easily. But any feeling of heightened mental and physical efficiency is an illusion, because research has shown that even low levels of alcohol in human blood slows one's reactions and makes possible misjudgments that may have terrible consequences in your and others' lives.

The more alcohol you drink, the greater will be the impairment of your concentration and ability to judge. As well as significantly altering your mood and behavior, the alcohol has various physical effects in your bodily functions. As a result of peripheral vasodilation (widening of your blood vessels), your face becomes flushed, and although you tend to feel warmer, a greater amount of your body heat is being lost.

Small amounts of alcohol increase the flow of gastric juices and that stimulates your appetite. Large amounts over a prolonged period may cause erosive gastritis: inflammation and superficial ulceration of your stomach lining, and haematemesis, which means spewing blood. Your urine production increases due to the inhibiting effect the alcohol in your bloodstream has on the secretion of your ADH (Anti-Diuretic Hormone). So people who drink heavily often become dehydrated, causing great thirst, a dry tongue and often a hangover. Brandy and red wine have a high concentration of congeners (secondary products of alcoholic fermentation) which may produce bad hangovers characterized by splitting headaches, nausea, vertigo and depression when you wake up the morning after!

Other alcohol-related health problems that affect some people include increased risk of getting cancers of the mouth, tongue, pharynx, larynx and esophagus which seems to be due to an irritant action in each of these cancers. Liver diseasesresulting from high alcohol consumption include fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, cirrhosis and cancer of the liver. Nervous system disorders that can result from excessive alcohol consumption include Thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency. The effect of a severe deficiency on your brain produces Wernicke's Encephalopathy with symptoms like confusion, speech and gait disturbances, and eventually coma.

Severe thiamine deficiency in alcoholics has also been found a cause of heart failure because it reduces the pumping efficiency of your heart, often combined with fluid collection in your tissues known as edema. High alcoholic consumption also increases your risk of of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure or hypertension, and stroke. Other serious health problems you can get from high alcoholic consumption include gastritis, pancreatitis and peptic ulcers believed to be linked to an irritant action the alcohol causes in you. In the field of mental health, it has been proven that alcoholics are more likely than others to suffer from anxiety and depression, often linked to work, financial or family problems in your life, as well as from paranoia. Alcoholics are more likely to develop dementia. Incidence of suicide and suicide attempts is also statistically greater among alcoholics!

The effects of alcohol on your sexual behavior is also an illusion, as it may provoke increased desire but also decreased performance. Regularly consuming alcohol also adds a lot to the energy content of your diet. Pure alcohol provides 700 kcal per 100g and that is why habitual drinkers of beer or wine are usually overweight.

The tolerance level and effects of a large consumption of alcohol depends on many factors including your physical and mental state. Excessive ingestion of alcohol for a period of between 30 minutes to several hours can cause acute poisoning if taken in sufficient quantity, as it will dangerously depress the activity of your CNS (central nervous system). The effect of this on your brain can lead to loss of normal mental and physical control of your body, and in a few cases somebody who drinks a huge amount of alcohol over a short period may lose consciousness and even die.

it can cause vomiting and other stuff
