Arminianism is an off-shoot of Calvinism started by Jacobus Arminius and popularized by John Wesley among others. Arminians hold, just like Calvinists that humans are corrupted by and slaves to sin, but that at Christ's death God's prevenient grace liberated everyone from that slavery and restored our free will to either accept or reject Christ. Therefore your salvation is based on the choice to accept or reject Christ.
Many Godly, bible believing Christians have held to and still hold to this theology today. The two major problems with Arminianism is that biblical evidence for prevenient grace is sparse at best, and that historical Arminians have believed that one can loose their salvation which goes against the clear teaching of scripture. Many Arminians today, however, do believe that once someone is saved, they cannot loose their salvation.

DTS no longer supports the true grace understanding of the Gospel of Christ. The majority of the current faculty promote Reformed (calvinistic) doctrines to varying degrees. DTS never held to the Arminian (loss of salvation/probation) view. selah

Arminian
The doctrine of predestination is mostly associated with Calvinism, and the rejection of Calvinist doctrines of predestination is called "Arminianism." John Wesley was the most influential leader who preached Arminian doctrines and his theology spread through the Methodist movement. So denominations with roots in the Methodist movement (anything with "Methodist" or "Wesleyan" in its name, plus some others) generally do not preach predestination.
Actually the divisions in the Anabaptists ended in 1619 when a new Baptist movement came about. The Amish, Mennonites, and all other Anabaptist groups that would be established had been established. At that point the Anabaptist movement was complete. In 1609 Jacob Arminius in the Netherlands completed his study and Arminianism broke off from Calvinism. A group of Anabaptists became Arminian Baptists. They are known as Free Will Baptists. As they are Arminian in Doctrine, their doctrines are closer to those of Methodists than they are to other Baptists. They are much more open to outsiders than are Anabaptists.
