Best Answer

Feuding in its classic form (verb to feud) meant bitter hatred and armed conflicts between rival clans or families. Similarly, actual bloodshed occurred in feuds between rural US mountain families into the 20th century.

However, the term can be applied metaphorically to any conflict or argument, such as quarrels between the major political parties, or by individuals competing for trade or resources.

Nobody. For eight more months, he kept Halleck in place. Not till after Chattanooga did Grant get the top job.
