There's no such thing as "Standby ticket". If for any reason the tickets issued for a flight are more than the seats of the aircraft, some tickets go on standby mode and the passengers who have them fly only if one of the other passengers does not check-in (sometimes callled "no-show").

There are a number of ways to avoid being placed on a standby list for a flight. Arriving at the correct allocated time, booking flights before hand and paying to be let straight through to departures are all possible options.

It all depends. It is very likely to get the standby tickets but this does not mean that you will actually get in. When I went on a Friday in May only the first 15 people with standby tickets made it into the taping. My advice is don't get your hopes up... and line up early!!
