The American dream is very important. The American dream is to have fair rules and to have freedom. Our dream is too try to make children live an easier and fairer life. The American dream is to let people have their rights. The American dream is also used to help children have a bigger and brighter education. The American dream is for people to have freedom and to ease life. It is for people to stop being slaves. It is to have no more rulers. The American dream is also to stop having kings and for them to stop being lazy and have other people do things for them, and for the ruler to treat everyone fairly. The American dream gives people their rights. It lets everybody live in peace without those really harsh times. It gives people options and let's people express their selves.
The American dream is for children to live a better life then our parents did. It is for everybody to have the chance to be intelligent. It is for schools to treat students better in the future.
These are some of the idealistic values of the American dream- it's up to you to decide haw these idealistic values are associated with the materialistic- that is; are all of these ideas being put to use today, or are they illusory? Is the american dream just that- a dream?

The phrase "the American Dream" was coined by author and historian James Truslow Adams in the book "The Epic of America" and described by him as "that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" "and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position."
In the 1950s, a simpler cliche of the American Dream arose defined in more practical terms: a modest home with a white picket fence, a happy marriage, a 2-car garage, a few modern appliances, and an average of 2.5 children. The theme is of simple pleasures and achievable virtues coupled with optimism that technology and industry would make these joys more commonly available to everyone.
In the most general sense, the American Dream is to enjoy the goodness and happiness we seek, to deserve such blessings by our own good nature, ability, and drive, and to see others likewise receive and deserve all good things.
The American Dream is of a society in which everyone gets to enjoy reasonable political liberties such as the right to vote (etc.), and in which ideally everyone has a good job and is prosperous enough to buy a house, a car, a TV, and other necessities and luxuries of life. Happy people in a happy society.
