Fire represents tehnology. It can be uses it a positve role (rescue) or a negitive way (Atempt at killing Ralph). This is more clearly seen when you draw conections between other symbols in the book. Piggy is logic/logical thinker. he uses glasses (knowledge) to discover the conch (Law and Order) and fire (technology).
