I differ with above answer and believe the below answer is correct:-

Kaavyam means epic (book). As example: Raamaayana Maha Kavyam = A great epic called Raamayana. Where as right word for poem in Telugu is 'Padyam'.

కావ్యం = poetical composition. ( The 2nd is correct).
