Rhodesian Ridgebacks were often bred to hunt lions. And the way they hunted them was known as Hounding.
Hunters usually released a large pack of these dogs at once. They'd track the lion and hold it at bay until the hunter could shoot it.
There really is no particular dog nor dog breed nor any particular size of dog that would or is capable of killing a lion. However, there is a breed known as the Rhodesian Ridgeack that has been used as a lion-hound in Africa to track and hunt lions and sometimes fight them. But NOT kill them. And there are other breeds of lion-hounds that are used to track down cougars for hunters to kill. But there is no known actual breed, size or type of dog that will physically and actively kill a lion just because it can. There are no documentations of such a particular dog or dogs that is capable of doing such a thing, even for other large wild cats!
