CNAs are certified nurse's assistants. These people have a few months of vocational training and they do a lot of the more unpleasant mundane jobs at the hospital, and they are very needed respectable people. Once you have your high school diploma or GED, you can go to a community college or a trade school to get the training you need to become a CNA. You can get an associates degree or a certificate.

== == You can take local classes at a community college. It takes approx. 2 months. When your finnished with the class and clinicals you take the state exam to become certified.

A certified nurse's assistant does most of the work and gets paid the least amount of money for what they do. You will more than likely go through a 2-4 week class (depending on where you go - some places even pay you), where you will learn nursing skills, medical terminology, charts, and caring for the patients, which includes dressing, eating, taking them to a shower or sauna for baths, keeping the patient clean, exercising, taking them to the bathroom and basically giving the utmost care to the patients you are in charge of. Some will come to think of you as their family and it can become emotional for you both, especially if your patient takes a turn for the worst. You will also be in contact with their own families (if they have any) and should be able to talk openly and honestly with them.

This is a job for a very dedicated and hard working person. To become certified, you will have to take a state test which usually consists of both answering questions as well as performing duties, such as brushing a person's teeth who is in a coma, dressing someone who cannot move their left arm, or helping a patient into a wheelchair, among many others. Hope this has helped. Others can tell you even more. . .

As well each state has certain requirements and criteria that necessary to become a cna. You will have to follow those guidelines and register with the state's cna registry. Usually it is a fairly simple process depending on adaptability for learning and a cna position is a great stepping stone to join the world of nursing if you plan on moving forward to become a RN and so forth.

Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED, take an entrance exam to demonstrate a grasp of the basic skills that are required and have good character. The first thing individuals need to know concerning how to get CNA certification is where to find CNA training courses. Most cities and towns have CNA training courses at community colleges, technical schools, adult education centers, community centers, hospitals and nursing homes. Some of the courses are offered for free to individuals who already have employment at a facility that accepts Medicare. Colleges and universities sometimes offer financial aid for CNA certification programs.
